The engineering industry continued to build upon its strong foundation throughout 2008 with steady employment opportunities and an unemployment rate hovering around 2-3%. Engineers continue to be some of the most highly sought after professionals in the labor market as their specialized skills and training make them difficult to find. The limited number of engineers paired with the high demand for their talents in order for companies to achieve continued innovation and development, makes engineering one of the hottest sectors for employment despite all of the broader job market turmoil that’s dominating headlines right now. More good news could come for engineers as our new President intends to invest heavily in creating green jobs, many of which will need the technical expertise of engineers.
