Receiving a clean bill of health for 2008, the healthcare industry was clearly the shining star of the job market. The sector added almost 500,000 jobs in the past year, including 37,500 jobs in December alone. As the Boomer generation reaches retirement age and begins to further utilize our healthcare system, the demand for healthcare professionals – from physician assistants to nurses to x-ray technicians – will not wane in coming months and years, but will only continue to grow. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics even forecasts that the healthcare industry will grow by a sizable 16% by the year 2016.
